While snow still blankets the ground below,
Comes he whom they've longed for so.
Guided by the path where dawn's light glows,
Escorted by guides who the way do know.
He'll tread on grass in spring's gentle bloom,
As a new day begins its rise.
And he'll come to stay with you, assume,
When lilacs bloom under azure skies.
In the fall of 2022, I started this piece, depicting a horse on commission. The horse kept asking to be changed, and this went on for several months, until it eventually walked off the canvas altogether. I was left with a horse with a blurred head and neck.
For a year, this canvas lived in a box with others, until it called out to me a month ago. There was a new presence there. I finished the horse's head, made changes to its appearance, and added the white socks it requested. And when the painting was almost complete, I was asked again to step back and wait for the next encounter.
And today, from early morning, rhyming words were spinning in my head, and I realized that it's very important to put a period on this canvas today and set it free.
I don't know if this horse is returning to someone or if it's being born for the first time, answering the call of someone's childhood dream. But their meeting is already determined, and the conditions are clearly defined.
